10 Common-sense Self Defense Tips For Men
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
For more than 30 years I have been running specialized self defence courses and seminars. Over that time I have shown thousands of people how to protect and look after themselves.
Increasing personal safety ALWAYS commences with awareness.
Since most men may be attacked in almost any situation and for a wide-ranging variety of reasons I offer the following advice.
Here is a list of ten simple things that you can do immediately that will increase your safety:
1 – Most men get involved in physical trouble as a result of saying something rude, offensive, tactless, stupid or hurtful. Controlling what comes out of your mouth can keep it in good shape. Think before you speak.
2 – If a fight breaks out in a bar – leave immediately. Go before all the drunks and brawlers start swinging chairs, bottles, glasses and punches. A “free for all” usually starts with just two protagonists. Innocent bystanders often get hit. Those who leave all the fools to bash each other do not.
3 – NEVER attempt to mediate an argument between a man and a woman. Both will cease arguing or fighting with each other and turn on you – the common enemy. If you fear for the woman’s safety, call the police.
4 – Understand that many people these days have a cocktail of drugs and booze in their veins. It makes them argumentative, aggressive and “Mike Tyson-esque.” Avoid people who are “off the planet.” Even a casual glance at them can set them off. Leave them with their own demons.
5 – Don’t make the fatal mistake of thinking that ANYBODY fights “fair” any more. Those days are over – they have been since the John Wayne era! Expect multiple attackers, weapons, possibly both.
6 – The cemeteries are full of dead heroes. Don’t add to their number. Run if you can. There is no shame in avoiding a fight. In fact, running away is smart.
7 – Recognize objects in every room of your home that could be used as makeshift weapons. Home invasion is a growing curse these days due to the unwillingness of our governments to protect their citizens.
8 – THIS IS MORE OF A LEGAL WARNING: Understand that if you allow yourself to be placed in a “compromising” position with a woman, particularly one who is “under-age,” then the woman’s version of events will usually be believed over the man’s version. Do not allow yourself to get into such situations.
9 – Negotiation is a far higher art form than physical confrontation. Do anything reasonable to avoid a fight. NOTHING good ever comes out of conflict. War is proof of that.
10 – When all else fails, your back is to the wall and there is absolutely no other alternative left remember… “it is better to be tried by twelve than carried by six.”
Remember my opening words – “increasing personal safety ALWAYS commences with awareness.” Increase your awareness, mind your manners, know your surroundings and you will certainly improve your safety.

Nutrition – Brain Food
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
My brain is very important to me and i assume to you to, meaning your brain to mine. Since we age, which is out of our control, both our bodies and our brains grow old also. However by realising smart food choices, we can preserve our treasured gray matter for longer and improve our brain function. Below are a few brainy choices for keeping our brains in good shape.
Blueberries have been revealed to shield the brain from stress, dementia, and Alzheimers. Diets rich in blueberries significantly improves both the learning capacity and motor skills, which are been shown through research.
Avocados, although considered a ‘fatty fruit,’ can contribute to healthy blood flow and reduce blood pressure, which decreases the chances of developing hypertension, which can lead to a stroke.
Deep-water fish, like salmon is a good, freshwater fish option. They are abundant in omega-3 essential fatty acids, which are crucial for healthy brain function.
Nuts and seeds are good sources of vitamin E, an important vitamin required by your brain to stave away declining cognitive functions. Walnuts, sunflower, sesame seeds, almonds, cashews and peanuts are all great options.
Whole-grain breads, oatmeal and brown rice also help to maintain a healthy brain by decreasing the risk of cardiac disease. Through promoting a healthy heart and improved blood flow, the brain is sure to flourish via excellent oxygen and nutrient delivery through the bloodstream. Complex carbohydrates also provide the brain with a constant stream of glucose that heightens brain function. It is crucial to keep off simple carbohydrates often found in junk food since the glucose gives the brain a short-lived sugar high, often followed by a crash that makes you feel hungry and tired.
Freshly brewed tea also has potent antioxidants, particularly the class known as catechines, which also promotes healthy blood flow. Since black teas do contain caffeine it is crucial to use it sensibly.
Dark chocolate has potent antioxidant attributes that contain several natural stimulants, which enhance focus and concentration, and promotes the production of endorphins, which helps improve your mood. Once again, moderation is the key.
Happy Eating.

Home Security – Tips to Prevent Home Invasion
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
In the articles “Home Security-Home Invasion Threat Parts I and I” we discussed what Home Invasion was, some tips to avoid being a victim and what to do if you became a victim. In this article we are going to focus on prevention.
To review, Home Invasion is a term coined by police departments to describe a burglary of a home when the occupants are there. Most burglaries occur when the occupants are not at home because quite frankly the perpetrators don’t need the added stress of dealing with people who might be armed and angry. What a mess that would be.
To my humble way of thinking Home Invasion is potentially a much more heinous crime than a burglary because the threat of injury or death to the occupants (you and your family) is definitely a huge risk.
Home Invasion has a much higher prospect of confrontation by its’ very nature and is thus potentially far more dangerous. On the other hand since it is basically a burglary with people at home, the principles that apply to burglary prevention would work here as well with a few additions.
Some basic facts:
1. Police authorities estimate that 90 % of all burglaries/home invasions are preventable.
2. In 17% of all crimes domiciles were violated.
3. The average burglar will spend no more than 2 minutes trying to get into a home.
4. A burglary occurs every 15 seconds.
So how do we stop this from happening and prevent home invasions? It seems obvious to me that you want to make your home an “uninviting” target by putting out the “UNWELCOME” mat. Advertise to everyone this house is not going to be a pushover. “Mr. Burglar, you are in for a hard time if you pick on us.”
—Is you home well lit? Even motion activated spots are great.
—Are there hiding places next to your home? Remove all shrubs and large plants that could provide hiding places next to your home.
—Get out your “UNWELCOME” signs. Start with Neighborhood watch signs. www.usaonwatch.com Then have some signs that announce obstacles “beware of guard dog”, “these premises protected by…” etc. And my favorite, an NRA sticker on your window or someplace conspicuous. You get the idea. Advertise that your home is not a good idea for burglary or home invasion.
—Dummy surveillance cameras provide a few minutes of thought for a potential intruder.
—Make sure you have some non lethal self defense weapons such as pepper sprays and stun guns located in a few places around the house. Even some audible alarms will help.
These inexpensive methods of prevention will make your home an uninviting target for a potential burglar/home invader. His job is to break into your home if you are home or not. Advertise to everyone it is not a good idea to even consider your home by putting out the “UNWELCOME” mat.
Chances are very good that you are reading this because in some way crime has touched your life or you want to be proactive and protect yourself, family, home, or business from the ravages of crime. That is the first step.
NOW the next step is for you to take action and purchase a dummy camera or stun guns. Look at our selection of self defense/ home security products at http://www.secure-at.com/dummy-cameras.htm and http://www.aaa-safetyfirst.com/runtstungun.htm both of which provide real “Security Solutions”.

Alkaline Diet Plan For Sickness Prevention
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
I am a healthy 33 year old because of a great alkaline diet plan that I use. I was never this healthy before, but because of this great alkaline diet system I use, I am on the peak of my health. I used to have aches and pains in my muscles and joints, as well as chronic fatigue that would not go away with long bed rest.
I found out later that we feel sickness and pain because of acidity in our diet. This acidic foods we eat creates toxin in our body. These poisons clog up our organs, joints, and muscles. This in turn creates symptoms like acne, anxiety disorder / panic attacks, headaches, chronic fatigue, diarrhea, stuffiness or excessive head mucus, metallic taste in the mouth, and a lot more.
Those symptoms mentioned above are just preliminary symptoms. Once you are still in a state of imbalance you will feel worse symptoms like depression, psoriasis, cold sores, asthma, bronchitis, viral infections, hives, urinary tract infection, impotence, sinusitis, numbness and tingling, insomnia, loss of memory and loss off concentration, and a lot more.
In order to prevent sickness, you have to keep the balance in your body. You have to alkalize your inner terrain to prevent sickness and other aches and pains in the body. You can balance your body when you follow a good alkaline diet plan. A good alkaline diet plan must include an alkaline diet list. You have to list your daily food intake so that you can monitor the food that you take in. You can then strike out the dead foods and just keep the healthy food in your diet.
Dead foods or junk foods are food stuffs that are acidic and therefore a threat to the balance of your inner terrain. Only alkalizing food can balance out the acidity in your body. With the balance restored inside your body, you will be healthier and full of youthful energy.
You will feel explosive health and energy in just 3 days if you follow the alkaline diet plan. Coupled with exercise and healthy living, you can turn the hands of time. You can turn your health around even if you think you don’t have any choice. Just remember that with the alkaline diet plan you do have a choice between good health and bad health.
Good health is a balanced and alkalized body, while bad health results from negligence of your food intake. All you need to do is change your food intake with an alkaline diet plan and live a healthy lifestyle. To learn more about this system visit http://acidalkalinediet.org/alkaline-food-chart/.
